This presentation is designed to provide parents and professionals with an overview of various types of inexpensive and simple strategies that can be used with individuals of all ages who present with difficulties in receptive and expressive communication.  These techniques aid in the transmission of accurate information, which can as a result diminish stress and maladaptive behaviours. Some of the topics covered by the presenter will include, but are not limited to, learning to make requests, learning to wait, visual schedules for daily routines and functional skills, as well as a brief look at creating social stories.   


Though this workshop will be presented in the English lanuage, French questions will be responded to in French.

Jennifer Macklin


Jennifer Macklin has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and is currently working as the Advisor of the Gold Centre's Materiatech. Jennifer has 19 years of experience working directly with individuals of all ages presenting with variouos types of developmental disabilities.  Not only has Jennifer worked in the public and not for profit secor, but she is the mother of a child with a diagnosis of Autism and a severe developmental disability who is also non-verbal.
